A Call to save the life of Sibel Balaç

TO THE EXECUTION PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE – ANKARA

Subject: Halt of execution on Sibel Balaç – release for the implementation of the verdict.

Death fast resistance fighter Sibel Balaç has already passed the death limit and yet she is still not being released. And although the ATK (Forensic Medicine Institute) report is ready, this decision is not implemented.

Sibel Balaç has reached 300 days on hunger strike. And there is not a single day, not a single hour to be lost anymore.

Until yesterday she was in Ankara Diskapi State Hospital and for some time now in Ankara Etlik City Hospital.

In the section where she is staying, under the torture of constant surveillance by a gendarme and a guard, her life is being attempted with advanced health problems.

This is also a violation of the existing legal process. While the Execution Prosecutor’s Office can and should take a decision on Sibel based on the decisive ATK report without delay, it is waiting for the decision of the Security Directorate’s “security investigation”. This is unacceptable.

Sibel’s release cannot be prevented. The police has and shouldn’t have the rights and authority to take a decision about a death fast resister, especially one whose health condition has been reported by the ATK in favor of release.

In conclusion;
1-) The process should no longer be prolonged and the ATK report should be taken as a basis.
2-) The “police-security investigation”, which is not a legal obligation, should not ä waited for.
3-) Sibel Balaç should be released as soon as possible, the Execution Prosecutor’s Office should take the necessary action in this regard.
