No decision taken yet for Sibel Balaç, who is in the critical stage of death fast

A decision for Sibel Balaç, who has been on death fast for 297 days and has passed the critical stage, has not been taken for 10 days.

(Ileri Kizilaltun who has been released some weeks ago, continues his death fast for 58 days with the same demands)

The People’s Law Office demanded the release of Sibel Balaç, stating that no decision has yet been made about Sibel Balaç, who has passed the critical stage in her death fast, which she started with demands for a fair trial, the release of sick detainees, and an end to the violations of rights in prisons.

In the statement made on the Twitter account of the People’s Law Office, it was said: “A decision has not been made yet about Sibel Balaç, who has passed the critical stage in her death fast. The General Directorate of Security could not complete the “security investigation” of our client, who has lost 35 kilograms in 10 days. Stop trying to murder Sibel Balaç, release our client immediately!”

Balaç was transferred to Ankara Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Hospital on September 9 due to her application for a postponement of execution, and was kept in the prisoner ward located in the annex building of the hospital.

She was taken to Etlik City Hospital in Ankara on 8 October.  “She is kept there with her mother at her side. There is a gendarme and a guard in the service room where she is kept. The presence of a guard and a gendarme in the room where our client is located puts our client’s health at risk” the People’s Law Office stated upon her transfer to this hospital.

On September 29, the Forensic Medicine sent its report on Balaç, who had dropped to 36 kilograms, to the Execution Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecution still hasn’t made a decision. The content of the report is unknown.

Political interference and violation of laws and human rights in the case don’t get to an end. Sibel Balac is struggling for her life after 297 days of her death fast resistance, but the report of the Forensic Medicine which should establish wheter she should be released was not yet published.

Regarding this injustice, the People’s Law Office stated: “The General Directorate of Security could not complete the “security investigation” of our client, who has lost 35 kilograms in 10 days. “

Every second she stays in the hospital brings Sibel Balaç closer to death! It is fascism that tries to strangle the people’s struggle for justice with violence, not Sibel, who “may pose a risk to public security”!

Sibel wants nothing but justice! We are supporting this rightful demands and her right to life, health and freedom!
