İleri Kızılaltun: Release Sibel Balaç as soon as possible

Despite countless protests outside, detentions and arrests, we did not give up on our demands.

(translated from Gazete Davul, October 1, 2022)

From poor neighborhoods to the Ministry of Justice, from prisons, courthouses and hospitals to the entrance of the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK), from Yüksel to Taksim and to the squares, from the walls of the poor’s printing house to the social media… we talked with our resistance everywhere and in every way: WE WANT JUSTICE!

İleri KIZILALTUN

Hello, today is October 1, 2022…

We have left behind another month in our death fast resistance… We leave behind days, weeks, months and seasons by turning our people’s longing for justice into action and hunger into resistance…

Since December 2021, we have been saying “we do not accept injustice, we do not take it for granted…” and we do what is necessary.

We are resisting together for the right to a fair trial, against the conspiracy cases and arrests created by lies made by slanderers-confessors, against the usurpation of our right to communicate and books-publications in prisons, against the severe isolation and bans imposed on life sentence prisoners, and for the right to treatment and release of sick prisoners.

This resistance is the resistance of all our people…

Justice is our common and always urgent demand… The collective labor and mobilization that developed around our resistance and grew together has already taken its place in the struggle for justice of our peoples from past to present and has carried this historical struggle forward…

We did not achieve this easily… With our melting bodies, by resisting all kinds of censorship and oppression and attacks that were put in place to suffocate our resistance, as death fast resistance fighters, we survived the days turned into torture in prison and in the “prisoner wards” of the hospital where we were kept, with faith and hope, with solidarity, with countless actions outside. Despite detentions and arrests, we did not give up on our demands. And from poor neighborhoods to the Ministry of Justice, from prisons, courthouses and hospitals to the ATK entrance, from Yüksel to Taksim and to the squares, from the walls of the poor’s printing house to the social media… We talked with our resistance everywhere and in every way: WE WANT JUSTICE!..

And we continue… Our demands are clear… Steps must be taken…

Today, I, Ileri Kızılaltun, reached my 48th day. Sibel Balaç is on her 287th day… Sibel Balaç must be released as soon as possible. The ATK process was delayed, but eventually completed. The ATK report was sent to the relevant execution prosecutor’s office, but now it is wanted to prevent the release under the name of “security investigation”. This is not a “bulky bureaucracy”, but an example of the reality of injustice that we have explained with our resistance. Bureaucracy is a political phenomenon, not a technical one.

And today, it is unacceptable that the political police, who arrested Sibel with conspiracy, conduct a “security investigation” about Sibel. The fact that the political police can make an assesment against the release decisions of ATK and the prosecutor’s office and is able to take a decison, is nothing but a distribution of duties between institutions in legal bullying.

What security… Whose security… Our resistance will overcome this obstacle as well. We will overcome… We believe this. However, for Sibel, not a single day but even a single minute is vital now. We don’t have time…

It’s not our problem that it’s the weekend. The resistance of the people in this country made the president of the country (Abdullah Gül) sign the necessary documents for the release of Güler Zere on the plane he was going to go abroad. The resistance grows with the unification of the hands of the people and gets results. We saw this in Gökhan’s release. And in countless examples in the past…

Come on… Let’s do it once again… Let’s demand freedom for Sibel everywhere… Wanting freedom for Sibel is opposing injustice…
